Who We Are
Our Story
Mount of Olives Seventh-day Adventist Church has been a pillar of faith in the Bushwick community of Brooklyn, New York since 1954. For over 70 years, we have been guided by faithful pastors, devoted members, and the unchanging hand of God.
Through decades of worship, service, and community outreach, The Mount has grown into a vibrant congregation — a place where families are strengthened, lives are transformed, and the gospel is proclaimed with joy.
Today, under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Carlos Blake Jr., we continue that legacy with renewed vision, energy, and commitment to our community and our God.

Learn More About
Welcome from Dr. Carlos Blake, Jr
I come to you with gratitude and humility, shaped by a journey across cultures, classrooms, and congregations, always guided by the hand of God. Born in Panama, I am blessed to minister bilingually in English and Spanish, with training in Greek—the original language of the New Testament—certified by the National Biblical Society. This foundation deepens my love for Scripture and strengthens my commitment to proclaim God’s Word with faithfulness and clarity.
The Lord has guided my academic path, granting me the privilege of study at Oakwood University (Bachelor’s in Theology), Andrews University (Master of Divinity), American Intercontinental University (MBA in Human Resources), and Walden University (Doctorate in Business Administration, Leadership). Honors such as the National Dean’s List, Outstanding Young Men of America, and Who’s Who testify not to personal achievement, but to God’s grace.
For over forty-two years, I have served as pastor and evangelist, witnessing the transforming power of the gospel. By His mercy, I have helped build two thriving churches—in Marion, Indiana, and Saginaw, Michigan, where the city honored me with its key. I have preached in more than 105 evangelistic campaigns across the United States—from Florida to Alaska—and internationally in Canada, Honduras, Belize, Bermuda, Jamaica, England, and Panama. Through these ministries, over 5,000 souls have entered the waters of baptism—a living reminder that God still saves, heals, and calls men and women into new life in Christ.
Today, I am honored to serve as the shepherd of Mount of Olives Church with a heart full of gratitude and a renewed sense of calling. I am ready to walk with you, serve among you, and labor together for God’s glory, the growth of His kingdom, and the transformation of lives here in Brooklyn and beyond. Join us. Experience God’s love. Be part of a community where faith is lived, hope is shared, and lives are transformed.
